A)I learned that the majority of Americans feel that Obama has a better idea on how to fix the United States healthcare system than Republicans in congress.

B)I think that this poll is a sign of hope that maybe our healthcare system can be turned around. Obama has the interests of the country in mind above all else and is very confident that this new plan will cause privatized insurance companies to lower their prices out of necessity. Without being checked, these companies have been able to give out terrible care for absurd rates. A government option would provide quality, affordable care for those who can’t afford healthcare insurance. If people choose to stick with their current program, they are more than welcome to. The fact that the majority of Americans support Obama in this endeavor is very hopeful for a country whose healthcare system is in shambles.

C)I feel like democrats current infatuation with bi-partisanship has reached the point where the health care plan is just sitting there idle: as Republicans in congress are essentially unwilling to compromise on the public option. We need action and I would like to know why Republicans are so unwilling to compromise and why democrats, if they are sure this plan will work, are unwilling to take more immediate action?

    a.
I learned that 52% of Americans think that Obama has better ideas on health care than the Republicans in Congress. This is surprising to me because of all the ridicule that Obama has undergone since he proposed ideas on health care, being called “Hitler” and making people scream socialism.

    b.
Although surprising, I think this is a very good sign for our country. People have hope that President Obama will make some needed changes for our health care program. I do not know very much about it, but by introducing the government option, people in need of health care, but who are not able to have it for whatever reason, would be given the opportunity to be able to afford health care. But the big ticket is that not everyone would have to change their health care provider. I think this is a good idea.

I would like to know why there has been so much criticism of President Obama’s plan if 52% of Americans think his ideas are better. I would also like to know what is happening with the health care reform. I know what he has proposed, and obviously it went over well with more than half of the people surveyed, but what now?

    A. I learned from this video that the majority of Americans support Obama’s health care reform ideas over Republican ideas in Congress.
    B. This number surprises me. From the media coverage of opposition to Obama’s health care plan and just general discussion of how his plan will put us further into debt and is a step towards socialism in our country, I am surprised that over half of Americans favor his ideas over his Republican opposition’s. I think health care reform is something that needs to be done, although I’m not exactly sure how. I’m not as educated on the topic as I’d like to be, but from what I’ve heard, giving more affordable health insurance to those who need it sounds like nothing but a good idea.
    C. I would like to learn more about the public option. From what I’ve read, it sounds like a good idea, but I’d like to learn more about it. I don’t really understand how it couldn’t become a monopoly in the insurance industry, or why if it’s so affordable anyone would choose to keep their private health insurance over the public option. I’m also interested in hearing what the Republicans ideas on health care reform are.

In Response to Megan Sikes: This generation is the generation of Knee-jerk reactions to sound bites. We hear a sound bite and don’t do any research because then we would be forced to see the other side of the argument. First, look at the health care plans of the republicans in congress… they don’t seem to have any. Hmmmmm maybe that’s why people prefer his plan… there isn’t any competition! I, conservative though I am, will be the first to admit that our health care needs reformation. However, his plan has some serious holes that I believe need to be patched up by someone.
Under Obamacare, we would supply a public option. However, to pay for this public option a tax hike would be implemented. Liberals in Congress have estimated a 2-3% increase. Obama estimated up to %6. So if you stayed with the private option, you would be paying for two health care systems. We spend 300 per month on Blue Cross. With our monthly expenses, we would have around $600 taxed on us for Obamacare. It is much more feasible for us to drop Blue Cross (potentially allowing it to fail) and thus allowing the federal government to take over both us and Blue Cross. Think logically for a change people.
